Rachel Simpson – How life changing is being diagnosed with coeliac disease?
From eating pasta in Italy with no health issues at all, to one month later going through a stressful time in her life, Rachel was diagnosed with coeliac disease.
In this week’s episode we chatted to Rachel Simpson, who does many things! She is a Women’s Health Educator for women who want to understand their bodies, an Australian-trained physiotherapist, nutrition and health coach and natural fertility educator, where she teaches women all those things they never learnt in health class – from periods, pregnancy and pelvic floor. She has her own podcast Mana Women’s Wellness, which is connected to her resource library and her digital guides, where she answers all those questions you’ve been secretly Googling. We also talk about a life changing diagnoses of coeliac disease she got at 25 after a stressful moment in her life. It was pretty tough for her at the time, but now she’s super healthy and looking to start a family very soon.
Here’s a summary of what we spoke about:
- What Rachel was like growing up, and how she was virtually symptom free most of her life
- What she studied at uni, and how she has evolved from being a physiotherapist to a women’s health educator
- Where her gut symptoms started, and how she managed to find a diagnosed to coeliac disease
- How she handled her diagnoses and the changes she made
- The step in her carerr from this experience
- The story behind Mana Women’s Health
- Advice on how to manage unresolved symptoms
- Tips to manage flare ups with a busy schedule
- And more!
“Then one day I got a call asking why I hadn’t booked in an appointment to talk about my coeliac disease, so then I knew I had a diagnosis.”
